Summer vacation!

It’s been a wonderful first year for me as an instructional technology specialist in Plymouth! The pages of this blog and my other It’s All Good blogs showcase the different ways we successfully integrated technology throughout the curriculum. As many other teachers will do during their summer breaks, I’ll spend some time reflecting, evaluating and planning for next year. I plan to leave the blogs in tact, for now, for others to explore. Mother’s Day Messages!

The first graders at WES have a wonderful tradition of inviting their mothers and other care-givers into school for a Mother’s Day presentation on the Friday before Mother’s Day. Slideshows are back!

I’m not sure whether it was a problem with this edublogs site or the bubbleshare site, but our slideshows are back online! I was able to get the basic shows and not the scrolling pictures to appear on our blog pages so I’m sticking with those for now. You just never know with technology and that’s why I enjoy it so much! In the end, it’s all good…

Technical Difficulties!

Our slideshows are grumpy!! For some strange reason, the slideshows that were running beautifully just days ago are no longer showing up through Bubbleshare. I’ve spent several hours trying to figure out the problem today but with no luck. I’ll continue to work on it and hopefully it will be resolved soon!! For now, please continue to enjoy the audio files posted on our pages!

New Additions

Podcasting in the primary grades has really taken off! You can now listen to the first grade students in Mrs. Glynn’s class share their thoughts about butterflies by visiting the grade 1 FFES page. Also, Mrs. Rogers’ students read poems aloud and they have been added to the grade 1 WES page. Feel free to leave a comment of encouragement for all of the hard work these young students have done!

What fun we are having!

We are having such a wonderful time sharing here on our little blog! What started out as a simple graduate class project has now evolved into so much more! Students are excited about being recorded and are asking when they’ll be able to do it again. Students are listening to their friends in their own schools and are interested in what is going on at the other school where I work. It’s great to view the comments from family and friends-near and far! If you could see the look on the children’s faces when a new comment is shared–they are truly priceless! I’m encouraging more and more classes to become involved so please visit the links to the grades 3 & 4 blog and the grade 5 blogs where podcasts and poetry readings will be included within the next month. I learned something new!

YEAH! I finally had some time to change Mrs. Johnson’s tree frog files from wav format to mp3 format. This will allow for faster and easier listening. I didn’t realize the difference in the file type would have an impact but if you tried to listen to any of Mrs. Johnson’s students read their paragraphs, it might have taken several minutes to load the file as compared to the seconds it takes to load the other files on this blog. The reason this was happening was because I mistakenly uploaded Mrs. Johnson’s class files as wav files. Well, I guess I learned something new and I’m really excited that I was able to figure it out and fix it!!

I must first approve a comment before you will see it online.
